Apart from a spacious car parking in front of the house that can accommodate at least three vehicles, two bathrooms on each floor and a deck or patio area, kitchens are dominant players in the seller’s market. First and foremost, what you might not know, potential buyers appeal to a warm, welcoming, and clean space. Bright and upgraded kitchen will quickly seal the deal, and your advertisement will not be stuck for ages on the market.
So What Makes Your Kitchen Irresistible for Buyers?
Regardless of the time you have spent or not spent in your kitchen, let’s focus on the image that you want to create when staging the room for a future home sale. Do you want potential buyers to perceive the kitchen as a perfect zone for large families? Or maybe you are zooming in on singles who thrive on a good take away every evening? Some buyers love to entertain a lot, throwing a bash each weekend for 30 or so friends and acquaintances. The last group of your recipients may be homegrown cooks who thrill at the idea of a proper Sunday Roast Beef with gravy, mashed potatoes, and baby carrots.
The most important factor is we are trying at the most not to sell the vision of our kitchen that is too cramped to move around, not to mention proper meal preparation. Our kitchen should not also feel like it is in bad need of revamping or remodeling in a short span of time. The perfect image shall show lots of storage possibilities and plenty of space to accommodate parties or family entertaining. Therefore read through my advice on how to make your kitchen shine for future buyers.

1. Nail the unnecessary clutter.
During the sale process, your kitchen must be sparkling clean and devoid of stuff that is not essential to have in view while showing off the property. Part with the cutlery set that you got as a wedding gift from dear auntie from Canada. Same story goes for cheese fondue dishes that you take out once in a blue moon. Slow cooker, fast cooker and other appliances that are rarely used, find a place for them in the cupboards, not to spoil the perfect image of your kitchen. Consider the foolproof tip that you should provide clutter free worktops and counters. The top surfaces and kitchen benches must be inviting, therefore, make good use of your once empty drawers and cupboards. Everything shall find a place not to sit on view for potential buyers.
#Hot Advice: If you are a happy owner of a pantry, make sure to remove out-of-date groceries and food with a foul smell. Be aware of odors and food items with a short sell-by-date. Do not hesitate to throw at least half of the pantry contents, if it is for a good reason. Show off lots of storage possibilities in the cupboards and on the shelves in the pantry room.

2. Clean it thoroughly.
One of the best investments you can make while preparing your kitchen for resale is having it clean by a professional cleaning service. You could do it yourself, but would it be compelling to you? Give your kitchen a new lease of life. All of the things a sparkling clean kitchen looks its best. A professional will clean everything thoroughly, starting with a range hood, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator and inside of the microwave.
3. Meticulously organize the contents of the cupboards.
Once you have gone an extra mile and hired a professional cleaning service, take the second step to look through the food items you put back into the cupboards and drawers. If there are open shelves, make sure to rotate the labels, so they look neat and well-organized. Double check whether the food items are of the same height and similar color. Buyers should get an impression that it is a well-maintained kitchen, looked after by the lady of the house, loved and cherished by all family members.
4. Make your desirable kitchen zone an attractive place for entertaining.
The kitchen these days is no longer a place for preparing meals only but also a space to congregate on a daily basis, entertain friends, and hook up on gossips. Hence it needs to have some life and additional color. Dress up your room with a vase of fresh flowers. I do not insist on a traditional bouquet, but a simple, one type of flower off the supermarket bouquet will make your kitchen appear bright and lively. Another great option is to buy several pots of edible plants like basil, thyme or dill to freshen up your window sills. A flavor of freshly cut herbs wafting in the air will make potential buyers think fondly of your kitchen. At the end of the day do not forget about dishing out an armful of famous cookbooks. Jamie Oliver adorning your shelf or casually stacked on the worktop will cause a spectacular effect on the buyers. Last but not the least is a bowl full of fresh fruits on the kitchen table. That will make an impression of a highly welcoming atmosphere in your house.

# Hot Advice: If you have a state-of-the-art coffee brewer machine, make it a showpiece appliance, leaving it on view purposefully. You are reselling the house, not going down the property ladder, aren’t you?
Once you ticked on your to-do list everything that I have mentioned in my post, make sure to maintain its shape and looks for the sale period. You have done all the hard work for a good and important reason, hence keep it that way.
